This is the Helix Nebula, NGC 7293. It is one of the closest nebulae to Earth.
In my latest story, working title The Remnant, the Helix Nebula serves as a tourist destination for the cruise ship Jewell of The Stars. Can you imagine relaxing in a deck chair by the pool – a good book in one hand and a drink in the other – looking at this view?
