Episodic Story-telling – From TV to Books

TVEpisodic storytelling is here. Have you noticed it yet? We’re seeing books show up on Amazon with titles like “Episode 1” or “The complete Season 2”. Hang on, that sounds like TV not books. The modern wave of scripted story-telling on TV has certainly inspied many and now authors of the written word are starting to draw on this inspiration.

I wrote about this new form of story-telling at Christian Writers Downunder in my article Episodic Storytelling – A New Type of Book.

Just recently, author Kristen Lamb also wrote on this subject in her article Series and Psychopaths—The Author Sadist & Why Audiences LOVE the Pain. She shares about why we love TV fiction so much, and how writers can capitilise on this by ‘being a psychopath’.

My current work in progress is the beginning of an episodic series title The Remnant. I’m part way through writing the pilot episode at the moment and am having a blast.
